Virginia wedding in the mountains, shot on medium format and 35mm film

I loved photographing this sweet Virginia wedding in the mountains. This couple’s day was full of joy, beauty, celebration, friends and family. One of my favorite parts of the day was photographing the bride getting ready in her parents’ home. I loved seeing all the family photos hanging on the walls and sitting on the tables—so many beautiful black and white photos from her childhood! Nothing can compare to the timeless look of black and white film, and it was really sweet for me to be shooting maybe that same film on her wedding day, too. I guess it was just neat to know that this bride’s wedding photos will fit seamlessly in with those other family photos, you know what I mean?

I also loved the surprise the bridesmaids had for the bride (that sweet memory book!). I loved how relaxed and laid back the day was. I also really enjoyed photographing all those little moments—their wonderful first look, the flower girls sitting at the front of the ceremony, the bride’s joy as she walked down the aisle and her veil snagging when she walked back down the aisle, the second line to the reception site, and how all the guests just took off their shoes when a HUGE storm hit and flooded the tent. It was so muddy but no one seemed to mind, everyone was just delighted to be there celebrating. It’s just so imperfectly perfect. I feel it’s really such an honor to be the one to document such special, special days, and I’m already looking to the year ahead with anticipation and excitement!

Country Club of Virginia Wedding

I really loved photographing this Country Club of Virginia wedding over the summer! The ceremony was held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church which is just the sweetest little church off of River Road. It was a hot summer day but we got lucky with a little dip in the temperature. After the ceremony, we took a few portraits at the church before heading to the cocktail hour and reception at CCV. Both were a ton of fun!

This wedding was joyful and lovely and sweet (and a wee bit rowdy if we’re being honest ;). So happy for these two and delighted to share with you a few of my favorites from their Richmond wedding!

Fearrington Village Wedding in Pittsboro, NC

How sweet is this wedding, you guys!!!! It was tough to pick my favorites because there are so many joyful, beautiful, meaningful photos in this couple's wedding gallery.

Fearrington Village is a beautiful place to celebrate--quiet, historic and intimate, the perfect backdrop for a southern wedding. These two got married on a warm summer day earlier this year. They chose to do a first look and portraits before the ceremony, so that they had more time to spend with their friends and family come cocktail hour and reception. The reception brought funny toasts, great music, and delicious food. I am so happy for these two and delighted to share with you a few photos from their day!
